Urban Agriculture
The Community Greening Program works with Newark residents, community organizations and the City of Newark, to address Newark’s deficit of quality preserved open space by enhancing existing community parks; creating new pocket parks; and improving neighborhoods with street trees, community gardens, landscaped recreation centers, and urban farms producing fresh produce.
The Conservancy’s greening programs not only beautifies city neighborhoods, but empowers residents to take back their streets and to understand the role that they can have in local issues that affect their quality of life.
