The Conservancy Wins 'Leap into Science' Mini Grant

National Leap into Science Week is an annual celebration of science and literacy learning across the country, this year taking place from February 24 - March 1, 2020. This year, Sarah O'Leary (Director of Youth & Family Education) is presenting a Leap into Science program at the Springfield Branch Library in Newark. Her program delves into the mechanics of balance and the wind culminating in the creation of mobiles.

We're happy to announce that thanks to Sarah O'Leary's expert planning, we have been awarded a National Leap into Science Week Mini-Grant for this program! As part of National Leap into Science Week, Leap into Science provides 13 Mini-Grants that fund STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) learning programs in underserved communities.

About Leap into Science

Leap into Science is a nationwide program, developed by The Franklin Institute, that integrates open-ended science activities with children's books, designed for children ages 3-10 and their families. We empower educators to offer programs in community settings like libraries, museums, and out-of-school time programs to engage underserved audiences in accessible and familiar settings.
